Location: Underwater

Swilly a professional photographer who brings pro's on board every year for various magazines reckons the Maldives is the best place in the world to shoot underwater. With shots like these who could argue?

Jade one of the boat operators scored this rarely ridden wave this year. It's a tricky one to get on. The condtions for it to work is like trying to work out algebra. Basic equations and you will get it surfable but stuff like this Einstein would struggle.

Location: Why we don't say is because we sell out every year and if you are on another boat because of this we don't want you turning up and spoiling our fun, sorry.

This was probably the session of the year for this wave. Jade reckons at one point 3 sets came through that were way bigger than anything else and no one wanted a bar of them. This thing is very hollow the deeper you go, I'm talking knee deep sort of stuff.

Location: It's a left.

I love this wave. It is fast becoming my favourite left. Being a bunch of natural footers we surf more rights (being from the east coast of OZ helps). The Maldives has more surfable rights than lefts but with gems like this empty for most of the year we love these days.

Location: I don't want to lie anymore but I have to, long name I know.

This might not seem like that great a shot but this thing breaks for 3 times what you can see. It's borderline surfable because it's so fast. We get a lot of varying degrees of swell direction though so on it's day it' just plain mental. This is the best I've surfed it but I know it can get so much better!
